what an organization does to fulfill requirements and ensure customer satisfaction, while continuously improving the effectiveness of its operations) and ISO14001 (environmental management &#x2014; what an organization does to minimize its effect on the environment) certifications.</p><p>How is toilet paper made exactly? Once the bamboo is ready to be made into toilet paper, the bamboo is cut up into smaller chips. The chips are then boiled so they are softer and whitened using elemental chlorine-free whitening. The softer chips are then dried out and pressed into solid plates of bamboo. These plates are then combined into massive rolls, which are then cut down to the normal roll size.</p><h3 id="isPasted">Whitening Agents</h3><p>We whiten our bamboo toilet paper rolls using elemental chlorine-free (ECF) technology, a process in which no elemental chlorine is used in the bleaching sequences. Domestically, ECF bleaching is recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as being the &#x201C;Best Available Technology&#x201D; to bleach paper products.</p><h3 id="fsc-certification">FSC Certification</h3><p>Our manufacturers have obtained FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) <a href="https://fsc.org/en/chain-of-custody-certification" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">chain of custody</a> certification, which was vital for us when choosing a manufacturing partner. FSC chain of custody certification verifies that FSC-certified material has been identified and separated from ineligible and unacceptable material as it makes its way along the supply chain from the forest to the market.</p><p>The FSC also has a strong focus on <a href="https://fsc.org/en/for-people/workers" target="_blank">securing workers&apos; rights</a> by incorporating core labor requirements into their system. These requirements include fundamental elements on the effective abolition of child labor, elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor, the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation, respect of freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.</p>

That 20% is stuff that never reached consumers, but is still recycled paper (like the trimmed section of a giant roll of paper towels).</p><h3 id="isPasted">Whitening Agents</h3><p>The paper towels are whitened using process chlorine-free (PCF) whitening, which uses ozone, oxygen, and/or peroxide to whiten the paper. This method uses no chlorine, thus significantly reducing the amount of harmful waste produced by the process. Some more advantages of using recycled pulp is that it takes far less energy and water to convert old paper to pulp than to convert virgin trees to pulp.</p>

We are completely plastic-free! Being plastic-free was one of the main goals we had when starting this business and through some creative packaging and great partners we were able to achieve it!. Our products contain cores (bamboo), come individually

<p>We are completely plastic-free! Being plastic-free was one of the main goals we had when starting this business and through some creative packaging and great partners we were able to achieve it!</p><p>Our products contain cores (bamboo), come individually wrapped in thin wrappers (paper) and are shipped in boxes (cardboard). It&apos;s not ideal but we wrap our rolls individually to eliminate wrapping them as a complete unit in plastic and for health and safety concerns, as well as for transportation, but the wrappers, core, and box are recyclable &amp; compostable! It was a decision we weighed heavily, but by avoiding the use of plastic and using a minimal wrapper, we believe we have created the best product for our customers and the environment.</p>
